SMT
has produced several TIE variants, but this has to be one of the coolest,
yet strangest looking one of them all. The TIE Avenger is a real killing
machine and they captured it perfectly in the shark-like appearance. The
TIE Avenger has been seen in several different forms and SMT has melded
them together to create one. This kit, like all SMT pieces is beautifully
cast and full of detail that can rarely be found anywhere else. This kit
went together like a breeze (if that makes sense at all) and was a lot
of fun to build. SMT kits are known all around for their ease of assembly,
quality and fit of parts. This kit is no exception when it comes to that.
For painting I used Bluebell for the main body, Flat Black for the panels
and Pewter Gray for the cockpit areas. I didn't really weather it because
this ship was made in limited numbers and was only for the elite so weathering
may have looked out of place. At $50 this was a great build and yet another
fantastic addition to my SMT TIE collection. Unfortunately this kit is
no longer available as SMT has ceased production of all Star Wars related
kits.
