I'm pretty sure this was the first vinyl kit I ever did. I may be contradicting myself elsewhere, but I'm pretty sure this is it. I remember I got it with a bunch of the 1/4 Screamin' kits and this was the first one I did. I don't think it came out too bad. Although I don't remember Han being a redhead! This kit is actually pretty small, smaller than other 1/6 kits. It's sculpted really nicely. What else can you expect from Kaiyodo. I love how his shirt is wide open like how it really was. The gun is much more accurate than any other kit. It went together without a problem. As for painting, please see the AMT/ERTL Han Solo kit for a detailed explanation. I based that painting scheme on what I did on this kit first. I remember waiting for a really long time to do this kit because it always said not to use enamels, and that's all I had, so I didn't think I could do it. Eventually I was like "Forget it. I'm just gonna do it anyway". I did and it turned out fine. Don't let anyone fool you. Most vinyl kits can be painted with enamels without a problem. Some will give you a little trouble and be tacky, but most wont. Glossy paints usually don't work. Of course acrylics always work best, but if all you've got is oil-based enamels and not enough money to buy acrylics like I didn't, than don't worry about it. To give this kit a little boost I made a nice base out of a 50 cent plaque and some black and red paint. Those are Corellian Blood Stripes, a mark of honor in Corellian society. I got this kit for around $20 from someone online back in the fall of '99 who I have LONG forgotten. If you're out there, contact me! You sold me a bunch of kits like the 1/4 Luke, 1/4 Chewie, 1/4 Han, this kit and I think you gave me a free Darth Vader poster from the late 70s. |
