This is a huge model. I'm not kidding. It's probably the biggest ship I've got. It's about 16 inches high by 9 inches wide, not including the base. It's made in hollow cast resin with very nice detail. It required some clean up and seam filling. Construction was difficult due to the high tension areas like below the cockpit, around the center engine area and the wings. There is really nothing to snap or lock, so you just have to use some REALLY strong glue and let it sit for a LONG time and harden. I originally wanted to make this kit on its side, but it just would not hold, it was too much stress. I sprayed the whole thing in my standard starship color and washed it in black. I didn't do too much weathering. I used to do tons on my older kits, but to make some contrast I've kind of cut back on the newer kits. To make a base, because SMT kits don't come with bases (hint hint SMT), I just drilled a hole up into the body, then drilled a hole into a wooden base and inserted a wooden dowel both ways. Unfortunately I busted a hole in the B-Wing body while drilling. But I fixed it. Overall this was a great kit because of many reasons like subject, size, accuracy, detail, the list can go on. I got this kit from SMT for $80. Unfortunately this kit is no longer available from SMT as they have ceased production of all Star Wars related kits. However it was re-released (not recast) in 2006 by Blue Moon Models and can be ordered in the Starship Modeler Store. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
