I loved this kit. I actually waited a long time to build this kit. It was the last major ERTL kit I ever did...kind of sad. Anyway, I waited so long because the kit looked so involved. There were countless little pieces to attach to the engines and such. But once I started, I could not stop. ERTL did a great job with this kit, it really looks handmade. When I showed it my father, he actually thought I built it out of scrap parts and junk. That's a compliment to ERTL since that is exactly what the kit is supposed to represent. The only difficulty was in placing the decals on the contoured body. When I built it, I didn't have any decal set, so I had some trouble. You can't really see it very well, but the front of the yellow directional vanes are all scratched up like in the movie. To provide the chipped-paint look, I did the same trick I used on Boba Fett. I first sprayed the pieces with a harder Silver enamel. I then painted over it with a softer acrylic color. Then I just scratched off the soft outer coating leaving the silver to show through. I love this technique, it works so well. At least that's what I think. I got this kit off of Yahoo Auctions for about $5. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
