It was only a matter of time before someone made a garage kit of Aayla Secura, the Twi'lek Jedi who fought in the Clone Wars alongside the other Jedi Masters and eventually met her end on Felucia when Order 66 was given. Vance Rudzinskas of Nut-Hut Productions has done a fantastic job in sculpting and casting this awesome kit. First off, the sculpting is top notch. It is flawless and the likeness is spot-on to Amy Allen, the ILM employee turned actor. I also appreciate the fact that kit was made to look realistic and not like a Barbie doll with exaggerated "proportions". The detail is all there and accurate, right down to the two different types of material that make up her shirt. The casting is just as good as the sculpting. There is only the most minimal of cleanup needed. Just a tiny mold seam on each part. Nothing major and nothing that will require a lot of work. Many times garage kits cast in resin are filled with unsightly pock marks and hundreds of air bubbles. My cast had one single bubble. That's right, only one! The surface of the resin is smooth and flawless. Really a fantastic job of casting. The pose on this kit is very good and reminds me of Aayla right before her troopers turned on her. The meticulously detailed base is amazing and filled with Battle Droid and STAP parts from a recent kill. The painting opportunities here are amazing. This kit is available for purchase from Nut-Hut Productions for only $89 and is limited to a run of only 75. Mine is number 15 so I would order one now if you want one. Trust me, this is an awesome value and a fantastic kit. You won't be disappointed. |
